How to Generate a QR Code

Published October 11, 2026 · U18-CHAN editorial team

A QR code stores text that a scanner can read. For a webpage, use the full address and decide whether that destination will stay useful after you print or share the code. This generator creates a static QR code: editing the input later does not update a code you already downloaded.

Use the U18-CHAN Qr Code Generator alongside this guide.

Enter and generate the content

Open QR Code Generator, enter a short piece of text or an absolute web address, and choose a size. The built-in encoder uses medium error correction and supports UTF-8 text. Input is limited to 1,500 UTF-8 bytes. A phrase in some scripts uses more than one byte per character, so byte length and visible character count can differ.

Leave enough quiet space

The generated image includes a white quiet zone around the black modules. Keep that margin when placing the QR code into a design. Avoid stretching it unevenly, adding a busy background or covering parts of it with a logo. More data creates more modules, which can make a small printed code harder to read.

Test before distributing

Download the PNG and scan it with another device. Confirm that the decoded content is exactly what you intended. Test the actual printed size when printing, because a large screen preview does not establish how a small label will scan. Check a web destination independently; the QR code itself does not verify its safety.

Plan for changes

For long-lived printed material, choose a URL you control and maintain the destination page. Do not put confidential data into a publicly visible code. If the destination changes, either update a controlled webpage or replace the code. A static generator does not provide a hosted redirect service or scan analytics.

A simple finishing check

Keep the original input, inspect the result and confirm that it fits the destination where you plan to use it. If a result looks unexpected, try a small harmless example and read the limitations on the tool page before proceeding.
